Tamara Bonamy
Learning Designer & Founder of Her Long Game
Tamara Bonamy is Founder of Her Long Game and Learning Designer, with over a decade in financial services.
She holds a Master of Human Resource Management (Deakin University), which covers adult learning design and learning strategy directly, alongside an MBA (University of the Sunshine Coast) and a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Neuroscience. She is a Prosci-certified change practitioner. Most of her career was spent at Youi Insurance, where she moved from leading sales operations into the Head of Capability and Culture role, with a remit spanning adult learning design, learning strategy, diversity and inclusion, and organisational design. She was a finalist in the 2022 Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network Awards.
She built Her Long Game because of a gap she noticed in her own life. Personal finance has never been taught as a dedicated, compulsory subject in Australian schools, and even after spending over a decade working inside financial services, the fundamentals were never handed to her either. How super compounds over a career. What coverture meant for generations of women before her. Why the gender wealth gap exists, and what drives it. She had to learn it herself, through the kind of expensive gaps in knowledge that come from not knowing what you don’t know.
Her Long Game is what she wishes had existed.

What Her Long Game is, and what it isn’t
Her Long Game provides general financial education. It is not a financial adviser, does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL), and does not provide personal financial advice. Nothing on this site should be taken as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any financial product.
Individual circumstances vary. Consider seeking advice from a licensed financial adviser before making financial decisions. To find a licensed adviser, visit ASIC’s financial adviser register at moneysmart.gov.au.
General financial education only · Not personal financial adviceAbout the curriculum
Her Long Game’s curriculum is built using evidence-based instructional design: a consistent structure of introduction, reflection, narrative, and application, the same methodology used in accredited adult learning programs. It is organised into three phases:
- The Past
- The financial history of women in Australia: coverture, property rights, access to credit, superannuation, and the compounding effect of decades of exclusion.
- The Present
- The fundamentals: net worth, spending, debt, insurance, superannuation, and wills.
- The Future
- Investing, compounding, diversification, risk, retirement, and a 12-month action plan.
